Since 1991 Brenda has written over 200 articles for publication in print or online. She credits her English and journalism professors at Union College for inspiring her to develop her communication skills across various platforms.

Brenda has been the editor-in-chief of OUTLOOK magazine since 2013. OUTLOOK reaches approximately 69,000 readers across a nine-state Mid-western region 10 times per year.

The print edition underwent a successful redesign in October 2015. The template for the online edition, which draws readers from over 50 countries, is updated yearly.

As the director of the Mid-America Union Conference Communication Department, Brenda mentors student interns in various fields of communication.

In 2014 she restructured the program to include specific job descriptions, and created a professional process for interviews and evaluations.


Brenda's Strengths

Discipline: creating agendas, itineraries, lists for processes and procedures, plotting goals, making step-by-step strategic plans, laying out timelines and deadlines.

Relator: valuing close relationships, investing time and energy into discovering each person’s unique talents, goals, motivations, and interests.

Consistency: setting up clear procedures, applying regulations and policies consistently over time, following a reliable system.

Harmony: seeking consensus, resolving conflict without unnecessary confrontation, detecting impending conflict and looking for commonalities that may lead to agreements rather than discord.

Intellection: reading, writing, thinking, asking questions, seeking meaningful answers that can open intriguing doors to a rich and fulfilling life.
